In all of the cases below the procedure was the same for fabricating each patch panel:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify the extent of the damage<\/li>\n<li>Remove damaged area using straight cuts if possible<\/li>\n<li>Make patch panel template from cardboard stock<\/li>\n<li>Transfer template to sheet metal<\/li>\n<li>Plasma Cut, bend and form panel to match opening<\/li>\n<li>Clean and deburr<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Installing the patch panel:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clean and dress the with cut area<\/li>\n<li>Place patch panel in opening and check fit &#8211; best case less than 1\/16&#8243; gap<\/li>\n<li>Hold panel in place using, clamps, vise grips or magnets<\/li>\n<li>Tack weld panel in middle of each side<\/li>\n<li>Remove clamps etc and check fit<\/li>\n<li>Stitch weld panel every 1&#8243; or so, allow to cool<\/li>\n<li>Grind down each stitch weld until .005-.010&#8243; proud.<\/li>\n<li>Hammer and dolly each weld until flat<\/li>\n<li>Place another stitch weld next to the finished weld when complete grind and hammer finish as above<\/li>\n<li>Repeat above until panel is completely welded in.<\/li>\n<li>If panel is exposed to where it can be seen, then metal finish until smooth, flat and properly contoured to minimize filler use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Fabricating Patch Panel for the Floor<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Fabricating Patch Panel for Rear Quarter Panel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Fabricating Inner Fender Panel Lip<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Fabricating Patch Panel for the Rocker Panel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Installing the Rocker Panel Patch<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Installing the Quarter Panel Patch<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Installing the Door Sill Patch<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>repairing the B Piller Support<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Installing the Passenger Floor Patch<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now we can get down to some fun work.
