The front suspension clip that I cut from the 1982 Oldsmobile had a major problem. The car was to be wrecked in a movie, after the engine & transmission etc had been removed. The guys preping the car for the movie, heated the front springs to get the car back to a reasonable ride height. The springs were so distorted, that I had to use a cut off wheel to cut the coils into small lengths to where I could remove them.
Front Springs
So what to use for springs? While I was converting the trailer to a sandblasting platform, I kept tripping over the ’56 Dodge front clip that I had cut off. After about the 5th or 6th time I tripped over it, I looked at the coil springs, hummm, they were the same diameter and same wire guage as the ones I removed from the Olds. I quickly pulled them out and installed them in the Olds front end. Excellent fit, if anything they might be a tad long. After I rebuild the front suspension, install the dropped spindles and put the car back together I will adjust the springs to get my final ride height.
