Well, now we are moving into doing what I call Paint Work. All of the major metal finishing, welding, fabricating work is done. The body and all of it’s various pieces are fitted and aligned. All of the contours are correct, the metal is basically flat with minor hills and valleys that need to be either tapped down or filled with body filler. The drill at this stage is to guide coat the epoxy, note the low spots and fill with Rage Gold or EverCoat and EasySand. use 80 grit to block flat then finish with 180 grit prior to reprimering with epoxy to seal any exposed metal, then on to the high build 2K primer, basically a very thin sprayable filler. The high build will be long block sanded with 180 and then 220. After that it will be recoated with high build, then wet sanded with 220 on a long block the a final go over with 400 wet to cut down the last of the sand scratches. At this point, I will do a detail clean up of the shop and set up the spray booth. Then it is spray with sealer and go directly to color.
