Time to clean up the shop and set up the spray booth.
My original plan had been to set up the spray booth in the garage area next to the shop. The more I looked at it the more I didnt like the amount of lighting that I had in there, so… PLAN B! Set up the spray booth in the main shop area in front of the lift. By removing the front clip on the wagon I would have more than enough room to have full access around the wagon for painting. Additionally, I can use the lift arms to mount the fans for the booth to get them up off of the floor where all the dust is.
So I haul over all the PVC pipe that I had cut to frame the booth with lo these years ago. I dumped them all on the floor of the shop and tried to remember what went where and how. To complicate matters, I couldnt find my design drawings that I had done using Google Sketch Up. Luckily I had taken a lot of photos of the booth when I had 1st put it up. All in all it went pretty well. I did have to redesign the cross bracing on the top to help reduce the sag. Even with the redesign it still sagged quite a bit, so I tied some guy ropes to the frame and to the mounting brackets for my air lines which are up near the 12 foot level in the shop. Once the frame was up I wrapped it with 2 mil plastic sheet, installed the inlet and outlet filters and positioned the fans. With the door sheets closed, I was able to achieve a good positive pressure with the fans on thier lowest speed. With the garage door open about 2 feet, and a couple of fans to direct the exhaust outside.
