Last weekend we went down to the valley to attend a birthday party for a good friend of ours so I was not able to get back to sanding the PPG K38 High Build primer until late Monday when I tackled the roof. Not only does the K38 spray well, it is a joy to sand. The plan is to guide coat and then block the entire car using 220 grit dry, followed by 400 wet to knock down the sand scratches.
The really good news is that I have the roof, hood, both front fenders and the front passenger door done! And no high or low spots have showed up! I should have the remaining three doors and the two rear quarters done today if my shoulder holds up. I seem to have damaged it when I was shoveling our last 30 inch snow fall. If it starts hurting, I stop sanding and rest it for a hour or so.
I had held off spraying K38 on the tail and lift gates, grill shell and splash pans until I was finished with blocking the body. I was afraid that I might find more high/low spots that would require a couple of more coats of primer. Right now it is looking like I will be able to go ahead and coat the remaining pieces and block them down with 220 before making the final pass at 400 wet.
Sanding Again!
