Installing the Stainless Body Trim
avatar

As noted in the previous post I need to install the door trim so that I can insulate the door skins etc prior to mounting the solenoids for the door locks. With this on the critical path, I decided to bite the bullet and install all of the stainless trim since I had bought a nice selection of spring loaded trim clips with neopreme rubber seals on the PAL nuts, in various sizes so I thought I was ready to go, and for the most part I was. I did have to modify a few clips to get them to work in a couple of the tight areas. I also had to replace the threaded studs on the rock guards, all four of the studs were in less that good shape. The biggest issue with installing the trim was that it takes a contortionist, which I certainly am not, to reach and tighten all the PAL nuts in some of the more in accessable areas. It took a bit of time to come up with proceedures to get to some of the upper trim studs in the doors and to several of the lower trim studs that were between the quarter panel and the wheelwells.
Two days of work and I was able to finish it!
