Not Much News …

After all the work in getting the Dodge completed and on the road, I decided to kick back a few months and do a bit of traveling, relaxing and in general goofing off. Before I tackle the 1940 Ford Convertible project I thought I would spend some time freshening up our old reliable 1939 Ford Tudor. This coming September we will have had the old girl for 12 years and about 85000 miles. She has hauled us all over the USA and parts of Canada with very few problems. Michelle and I have had so many good times traveling around with our friends in her that I could never think of selling her.

While I was pushing to get the Dodge done, I seriously neglected the old girl, so now I have been fixing up a few mechanical/design problems that have bugging me. I also am rewiring the dash board and finally getting rid of that damn ball milled billet aluminum dash panel that I have looked at and cursed at for all of this time. I have been so pleased with the Dakota Digital Dash that I got for the Dodge, that I bought one for the Ford as soon as it became available. The 40 will be getting one as well.

Once I have the car back together, I am planning on repairing all the paint chips, re-chroming the bumpers (two trips to San Diego via the back roads through the Imperial Dunes really took the shine off of them!) and maybe a trip down to Lui for some new carpet and freshening up the driver and passenger seat upholstery. Too many cups of coffee spilled too many times have made a mess of the floors.

While I am working on the 39, I am starting to do the planning for the 40. I hope to start the frame and chassis work sometime late this summer/early fall.

All in all, it has been an enjoyable few months doing not much of anything, but its now time to get back to work!
