Day 5 – Eugene

We had only a short run on Tuesday from Klamath Falls to Eugene up US 97 and OR 58 which is a beautiful drive, or would have been if not for the smoke from the fires in southern OR.  We actually could see the fire burning near Crescent Lake, it does look like they are getting it contained and it should be out fairly soon.

We checked in to the Timbers Motel in downtown Eugene and after getting settled in we met our good friends Brad & Toni Willett at one of the local pubs in Eugene.  I have known Brad since we attended 1st grade back in Fox Lake, Illinois.  After high school we lost touch until just after our 50th class reunion.  As you can tell, Brad could easily win a Earnest Hemmingway look alike contest.

We had a really nice afternoon and evening visiting and walking around the downtown Eugene area.  Eugene, being a college town has a large number of really neat little bars and restaurants and Brad seems to know them all and seems to be known by just about everyone in the downtown area.
