Getting ready to sell our 2nd home

A few weeks ago our daughter and her husband stopped by and shared the good news that ADOT was transferring Brandon to Phoenix which opens a lot of doors for his career that are not available for him up here in the mountains in rural Arizona.  This of course meant that they would be moving from our 2nd home here in Show Low.  Michelle and I bought this home back when I was still working in Austin before my retirement. We used the house as a vacation home and had planned on using it as a base while we built our retirement home in Sierra Pines.

As luck would have it, one of the homes in Sierra Pines that we really liked came back on the market toward the end of 2001. We made an offer and it was accepted. Now we owned three homes! Luckily I was finally able to convince the management team at Motorola to let me retire and about that same time our home in Austin sold, so we were free and off to Show Low.

Since we had the Whipple house we had Michelle’s sister move up from the valley so that they could be closer together again.  After six years or so and because of health reasons Twila had to move to a lower elevation.  That allowed our daughter to move into the house and now after another seven years it is vacant again and we have run out of relatives. Not wishing to be landlords, we decided to sell it while the market is in decent shape.

We have it listed with a broker which gave us a punch list of things we needed to address, nothing major the usual paint and update plumbing fixtures etc.  After a fun filled and exhausting 11 days we are finally have it ready to show.
