Getting Ready to Start the Body Work

A few items that I needed to take care of before tackling all the rusted areas in the body and floor.

Measuring Rear Wheel Clearance

Thinking ahead, as it turns out, way ahead, I used my new Percy’s Wheel Rite simulator tool to see if I had enough clearance for up to a 20″ x 8″ wheel and 245/45ZR20 tire. It looks like it should not be a problem. My wheel of choice would be American Racing Torque Thrusts.

Pulling the Engine & Transmission

I decided to pull the engine & transmission along with the front sheet metal and the seats so that I would have better access to the firewall and floor areas that needed a fair amount of rust repair, okay, they needed a LOT of rust repair.

Engine Mount Bosses

Once the engine was out, I decided to strengthing the motor mount backets by welding the flat washers to the bracket sheet metal.
